Australian Work and Holiday Visa Quota (200 Visas)
The Australian Embassy, will only accept the first 200 valid applications from Portuguese passport holders.
In 2016, there were more applicants than available visas and the Australian Embassy had to stop accepting applications.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply to the Australian Embassy for the Work and Holiday Visa you will need the following:
- Be aged between 18 and 30;
- Hold a valid Portuguese passport
- Have access to at least $AUD5.000, (3.300€)
- Hold a tertiary college degree or have completed at least 2 years of universities studies;
- Have completed an Official English Exam;
- Hold a letter of support from the Portuguese Government
- Medical exams (if required)
- Hold health insurance
Benefits of the Work and Holiday Visa
Work & Holiday Visa Holders are permitted to work in Australia without any limit of hours and are free to travel during 1 year following entry into Australia. During this year a visa holder is permitted to leave and re enter Australia as many times as they wish.
The Work & Holiday Visa can be a great way to discover your favorite Australian city and, at the same time, get some valuable work experience. Additionally, if you are interested, you will get the chance to develop a network to perhaps apply for a more permanent employer sponsored or skilled independant visa in the future.
